OUR PEOPLE • Pará
The cluster of Marajó is the largest cluster of fluvio-maritime islands on the planet. Its main inhabitant, the caboclo marajoara, is familiar with the fluctuating flow of the tide.
Seasonally, hand-made sweet water shrimp fishing is done with matapi – a trap made of eyed opossum splint – which is the main source of income for some of the Riverside families around the cluster, fueling some large centers like Macapá and Belém.
