WHERE?
Comunities of Torto and Caiçara, in the Delta do Parnaíba/PI.
 
WHAT FOR?

To take advantage of the natural resources of the region to generate family income. One of the women has already testified that the oil has been of great importance to the support of the family since, presently, their only income has been from the Bolsa Família (Family Bag... Federal Assistance Programme).
 
WHAT OUTREACH?

Presently, around fifteen women take part in the activities.

HOW?

We teach some women of the Community how to extract oil from the coconut and, then we buy all they produce and re-sell it in town. With this many women have been able to complement their family income. Dry coconuts used to be thrown away, in the villages.

WHAT DO WE NEED?

The Project does not require any structure from EMAF at the moment. The difficulty is that there is little coconut for the demand. In future, we are thinking of working on the planting of coconut, but we need a private area to do this.
